Jean-Paul Boetius: “We’re behind you, you can handle it!”

Former Bundesliga professional Jean-Paul Boetius has to fight cancer again.
As the 29-year-old Dutchman announced on Instagram, the illness he had already overcome had spread to the retroperitoneal lymph nodes.
“That means that I have to undergo chemotherapy followed by rehabilitation,” wrote the currently clubless ex-professional from Hertha BSC and FSV Mainz 05 on Friday evening.
A testicular tumor was discovered in Boetius in autumn 2022, and the midfielder was back on the pitch just four weeks later.
"I'm looking forward to the day when I can play football in a full stadium again," Boetius continued.
The 29-year-old received a lot of support in the comments under his post.

Mainz also responded with encouraging words: “We’re behind you, you can handle it!”
