Spanish prosecutors have charged Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti with alleged tax fraud.

He is said to have used shell companies to hide parts of his income during his first spell at the club a decade ago.

Ancelotti is accused of two counts of tax fraud, which is punishable by four years and nine months in prison.

The Italian coach is said to have evaded one million euros in 2014 and 2015.

The prosecution claims that Ancelotti only reported Real Madrid's income during this period and not income from image rights.

They accuse him of setting up a "confusing" system of shell companies to hide his additional income.

Ancelotti, 64, was Madrid coach from 2013 to 2015 before returning to the club in 2021.

He is one of the most successful football coaches in the world.

Ancelotti has not yet commented publicly on the public prosecutor's accusation.
