Paris St. Germain has reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

After a 2-0 win in the first leg, the French champions won the duel at Real Sociedad San Sebastián in Spain 2-1 (1-0) thanks to the outstanding Kylian Mbappé.

This is the eighth time that PSG has reached the quarter-finals of the premier football league; in the last two seasons it ended in the round of 16.

A possible opponent in the next round could be FC Bayern, who also qualified for the quarter-finals.

After Mbappé's intention to move to Real Madrid became public a few weeks ago, the French striker's playing times were recently severely limited.

On Tuesday, however, he was in the starting line-up and shot his team into the next round with his fifth and sixth goals in the current competition (15th, 56th).

For San Sebastián, their dream of reaching their first quarter-final in the premier class was dashed.

Mikel Oyarzabal's goal (89th) came too late.

Superstar Mbappé once again made the difference and, like in the first leg, scored to give PSG the lead: The hosts started powerfully, then Mbappé started dribbling and flicked the ball into the far corner.

Paris wanted to make everything clear early on, Mbappé's second goal was initially prevented by the strong Alex Remiro in San Sebastian's goal (29th).

There were no further highlights for a long time, Paris managed the result - until Mbappé was sent with a long ball by substitute Kang-in Lee and calmly made the decision.
