FC Bayern Munich brought in defender Eric Dier in January as an emergency solution for the defense.

Bayern originally loaned him out until the summer.

But the Englishman is doing so well in Munich that, according to media reports, he will stay for another year.

According to "The Athletic" and "Kicker", the 30-year-old Dier's contract has already been automatically extended because Dier is said to have fulfilled the stipulated conditions.

Five appearances for Bayern were therefore necessary.

Dier is only second choice at Tottenham

The record champions initially loaned Dier until the summer, but with a contract option for another season.

The rental fee was around four million euros.

Dier's contract with his former club Tottenham Hotspur actually ran until 2025. However, Dier was recently only second choice there.

The long-time English international quickly recommended himself to FC Bayern for central defense roles.

The 1.91 meter tall professional acts solidly and can also lead a defense.

Dier faces his seventh Bundesliga appearance in the away game at SC Freiburg on Friday evening.

Coach Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern in the summer.

The new sports director Max Eberl is looking for a new coach.

It remains to be seen whether he will also rely on Dier.
