Last year's bottom team Haas was the first racing team to present the concept for its new car. The VF-24 is very similar to the previous model. This is hardly surprising, as it goes back to a basis that was already on the track in Austin 2023. By the way, the name of the car is an allusion to the first machine tool produced by the manufacturer Haas Automation - VF-1. Within the company, VF stands for “Very First One”. Since their debut in 2016, this has been the name of all of the team's Formula 1 cars, supplemented by the respective year.

The 2024 Haas will continue to be powered by a Ferrari drivetrain. Like last year, the color black dominates the paintwork, peppered with white and red accents. The proportion of black seems to be even higher; the lack of color on the carbon surfaces is probably aimed at saving weight. The German Nico Hülkenberg and the Dane Kevin Magnussen will also be in the cockpit in 2024. But not everything stays the same: In January, Haas parted ways with long-time team boss Günther Steiner, and was followed by Ayao Komatsu, previously senior race engineer for the Americans.

Just like with Haas, the traditional British racing team Williams did not initially see the final car. Instead, the team showed off the new livery that was featured on a previous year's car at a launch in New York City. As in 2023, the basic color is dark blue, supplemented by a red and white decorative stripe. The new season begins with the official test drives on February 21st in Bahrain.

With the FW46, the team wants to continue the positive trend from the previous season. In the overall standings, the racing team moved up to seventh place, mainly thanks to driver Alexander Albon. Under new team boss James Vowles, who came from Mercedes in February 2023, Williams managed to climb from the bottom of the table.

It's so green: The Swiss Formula 1 racing team Sauber will appear under a new name for the 2024 season - and in new colors. Instead of last season in black and red and as Alfa Romeo, the team, which is now officially called “Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber”, is racing in black and neon green. The C44 will continue to be driven by Valtteri Bottas (r.) and Zhou Guanyu (l.).

The C44 was designed by James Key: "I took a more aggressive approach compared to last year," said the technology director. However, the racing team, which will be taken over by the German manufacturer Audi in 2026, has not yet shown a real car, but only computer-generated images, so-called renderings. But Key announced a “completely new car with a few carry-over parts at the rear,” and there will be changes to the front axle, the side pods and the underbody.

Back to black: The first pictures of the A524 show that Alpine is using the well-known color concept of blue and pink for Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon's company car. However, the 2024 vehicle will be presented mostly in black, as can be seen here from the cockpit view.

Painting a Formula 1 car can cost up to six kilograms. And as with clothing, the following applies here: black makes you slim. In order to save weight, parts of the cars are no longer painted; the black carbon can then be seen. In order to avoid the dark and sometimes interchangeable look, there have already been calls for the racing teams to make concessions in terms of weight when painting, as "Speedweek" reported, among others.

The sister team of series winner Red Bull caused excitement even before the new car was even presented. The reason: AlphaTauri, formerly Scuderia Toro Rosso (the Italian translation of Red Bull), becomes Visa Cash App RB. A team name that is too extreme even for Formula 1 fans who are used to commercialization.

At the presentation in Las Vegas, the design of the VCARB 01, the official name of the car owned by Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda (from left), was comparatively colorful. Instead of a lot of white, in 2024 they will (again) rely on blue, white and red - comparable to the paintwork of the Torro Rosso times. Technically, the VCARB 01 will be similar to the Red Bull, for example in the area of the front wheel suspension.

Aston Martin wants to fight for its first victory this year, team boss Mike Krack announced this goal at the presentation of the AMR24. The car is the first to be built on the new factory site in Silverstone.

Visually, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll's Aston Martin comes in the usual "British Racing Green" with black spots. There are technical innovations compared to its predecessor, for example on the nose and front section, said technical director Dan Fallows.

If Aston Martin was the surprise of the first half of the 2023 season, McLaren was the surprise in the second. The two drivers Lando Norris and rookie Oscar Piastri collected nine Grand Prix podiums, more than they have had for a long time. The expectations for the new MCL38 are correspondingly high.

The car is still powered by a Mercedes power unit, and the paintwork in papaya orange and black also shows the usual look. The team is keeping the technical details a secret at the online presentation in Woking. Like the other racing teams, they don't want to reveal too much here. There are visible changes primarily to the side pods. “There are a number of innovations, but not all the areas we want to tackle have been completed for our presentation car,” said team boss Andrea Stella.

Scuderia Ferrari didn't have to complain about a lack of attention when presenting the new cars. The traditional racing team from Maranello caused a stir before the start of the season by signing star driver Lewis Hamilton for 2025. Carlos Sainz has to make way for this; the Spaniard will end his Ferrari career in the new SF-24 for the time being.

The new racing car could already be seen on the track. Visually, the classic red is complemented by white and yellow vertical stripes, but the proportion of black elements is reduced compared to the previous season. But there should also be a lot going on under the paint, 95 percent of the parts should be new, team boss Frédéric Vasseur announced. Visible changes include adjustments to the side pods.

The new Mercedes, in black and silver, also presents itself completely overhauled at the start of Hamilton's final season. “Almost every component has been changed because I think that’s the only way we have a chance,” said team boss Toto Wolff. The new design is intended to provide a more reliable rear axle and more speed on the straights.

After another disappointing start to the season a year ago in Bahrain, the team had already made it public that it was correcting its concept of mini side pods. The rear suspension concept is also new. “A big focus was improving the unpredictable rear axle of the predecessor,” said chief technician James Allison. Hamilton and teammate George Russell were already able to complete their first laps in the W15 at Silverstone.

The world champion team around Max Verstappen (l.) and Sergio Pérez was the last racing team to present the design of the new Red Bull in Milton Keynes. The RB19 from last year goes down in Formula 1 history as one of the most successful cars after 21 of 22 victories. However, the launch of the successor was overshadowed by the allegations against team boss Christian Horner. The Brit has been under suspicion for around two weeks, with an employee accusing him of "inappropriate behavior." The company is currently having the allegations examined by an external investigative lawyer.

With the RB20, Verstappen wants to win his fourth world title in a row. The images of the new concept provided by Red Bull initially didn't reveal too many details. But they apparently don't want to be satisfied with a duplicate of the dominant predecessor in 2024. What is striking are the redesigned side pods and what appear to be vertically arranged cooling inlets. You can see a kind of bulge on each side of the hood. It is also expected that Red Bull will see further innovations during the test drives in Bahrain.
