The official figures from analyst Nielsen are still pending. But the broadcaster CBS has already made a decision: the Super Bowl on Sunday was watched by a record number of people on the screens. Around 124.4 million watched the game in the USA. This does not include spectators in bars and restaurants.

Of this, 112 million went to CBS, the rest was distributed across various other channels, including NFL+, Paramount+ and the children's channel Nickelodeon. This easily broke the record of 115.1 million for the Super Bowl 2023.

The hype surrounding pop star Taylor Swift may also have played a role in the huge number of viewers. The singer, who is in a relationship with Super Bowl participant Travis Kelce, was there live in the stadium and was flown in from Tokyo after a concert. She was shown again and again - including when she drank a beer in one gulp. Your legions of fans will certainly have played a role in the number of hits.

Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs had won the game in Las Vegas. In the NFL final, the defending champions beat the San Francisco 49ers 25:22 (3:10, 19:19) after overtime.

The gigantic show is – of course – about sport. But not only. The halftime performances are also part of the spectacle. This year was no different. Singer Usher impressed with his performance, supported by numerous guests.

For Usher – whose full name is Usher Raymond IV – the spectacle wasn't over yet after the performance. According to official documents, the singer married his partner Jenn Goicoechea at the Vegas Weddings chapel in Las Vegas a few hours after the show.

The marriage certificate was made public on Monday, so Usher's mother was there as a witness. The bride and groom have been in a relationship since 2019 and both have two children together. An official statement from the pop star is still pending.
