The footballers of VfL Wolfsburg have won the top game of the Bundesliga and thus finally knocked their pursuers from Eintracht Frankfurt out of the title race. The second-placed team defeated the third-placed team on Sunday 3-0 (0-0).

The decisive factor in the game was an own goal by Frankfurt goalkeeper Stina Johannes in the 57th minute. The 24-year-old had already caught the ball after a long throw-in from VfL, but then let it bounce back into her own goal. Lena Lattwein (86th) and Vivien Endemann (90th + 3) scored two more goals shortly before the end.

In front of 8,867 spectators in the Volkswagen Arena, the Frankfurt team played a good game, especially in the first half. They also had the best chances thanks to Laura Freigang (45th) and Lara Prasnikar (74th).

In the end, Wolfsburg gave a successful answer to their disappointing 1-1 draw in Leverkusen. In the table they remain one point behind FC Bayern Munich. Eintracht, on the other hand, is now seven points behind the defending champions.
