Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle broke the world record for the 100-meter freestyle in 46.80 seconds this Sunday at the World Swimming Championships in Doha. 

Chinese Pan Zhanle broke the world record for the 100-meter freestyle in 46 seconds 80, taking six hundredths off the previous record held by Romanian David Popovici on Sunday at the World Swimming Championships in Doha. Zhanle, 19, set the mark during the 4x100m freestyle relay won by China. The previous record was broken by Popovici during the European Championships in Rome in the summer of 2022.
