Bayer Leverkusen has won the top duel in the Bundesliga. Coach Xabi Alonso's team beat Bayern Munich 3-0 (1-0) and has put itself in a good starting position in the fight for the championship trophy. Bayer is now five points ahead of the defending champions.

As with the games in the afternoon, the top game was disrupted by the fans in the stands. As part of the protest against the investment of investors in the DFL (read more about the topic here), sweets flew onto the pitch before kick-off and had to be put away for minutes.

Loan player from Munich takes the Bayer lead

When football was played, the home team appeared more dangerous: national player Robert Andrich played flatly inwards from the left side, where Josip Stanišić made it 1-0 with a direct pass (18th minute). Stanišić, of all people: The defender came on loan from Munich at the beginning of this season.

And things got even better for Leverkusen: Bayer scored their second goal of the game shortly after half-time. After a pass from Nathan Tella, Alejandro Grimaldo scored from a tight angle past Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer and into the goal (50th).

The Munich team now tried to increase the pressure - but remained harmless. Leverkusen defended consistently and even hit the crossbar (from the corner flag) and the post once. Jeremie Frimpong secured the final point with a shot into the empty goal in stoppage time. Neuer ran into the opponent's penalty area from a Bayern corner.
