The ``NHK Welfare Grand Sumo'', whose proceeds are used for welfare projects, was held at the Kokugikan in Ryogoku, Tokyo, and the new ozeki, Kotonowaka, expressed his aspirations to the venue, ``I want to win and get a foothold into a higher position.'' I did.

The 56th NHK Welfare Grand Sumo Tournament was held this year by NHK and the NHK Welfare Culture Corporation, and about 4,300 spectators visited the Kokugikan in Ryogoku, Tokyo.



When Kotonowaka, who was promoted to ozeki with a record of 13 wins and 2 losses in his first tournament last month, appeared on a talk show, the audience shouted, ``Ozeki''.



Kotonowaka then expressed his enthusiasm, saying, ``I'll be stepping into the ring as an ozeki at the next venue, but it's a position where a sense of responsibility and self-awareness is important.I want to win and create a foothold for a higher position.''When he said that, he received a big round of applause from the venue. It was done.



After this, the masters and sumo wrestlers performed their proud singing voices, and the venue was livened up by the veteran wrestler Takayasu and the promising young man, 21-year-old Atami Fuji.



Additionally, six vehicles were donated to welfare facilities in Ishikawa Prefecture that were affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, and Endo, a native of Anamizu Town, Ishikawa Prefecture, handed over the car keys to related organizations.
