Around a week after the disappointing 0-0 draw in Heidenheim, Borussia Dortmund is back on the road to success. In the 2-0 (2-0) win against SC Freiburg, Donyell Malen particularly shone with two goals (16th minute / 45.7). Shortly before the end, Niclas Füllkrug (87th), who had prepared the first two goals, scored. Füllkrug gave himself a present on his 31st birthday. Thanks to the victory, BVB remains in fourth place. Freiburg is initially seventh.

In Dortmund there were again fan protests against the entry of an investor into the DFL.

In the first half, tennis balls and chocolate chips from Dortmund fans flew onto the pitch from the 36th minute onwards, and there was a longer interruption. The Freiburg fans also upped their game in the second half.

Dortmund played with a different body language from the start and appeared significantly more determined than the previous week. The 1-0 win in particular showed this: Freiburg initially intercepted a BVB attack, but Marcel Sabitzer followed up and the ball went to Niclas Füllkrug, who found Malen in the penalty area. The Dutchman took a powerful shot and took the lead.

Freiburg had a hard time, also because the already decimated squad was thinned out again when defender Manuel Gulde had to leave the field injured after around 20 minutes.

Even after the game was interrupted, BVB were the more dangerous team and kept switching quickly. Like just before the break: After a Freiburg attack, Dortmund countered quickly, and in the end the strong Füllkrug Malen served again, who hit the left corner.

Dortmund with chances

In the second half, BVB managed the game cleverly and did not allow themselves to be disturbed by another short break in the game when Freiburg fans occasionally threw tennis balls onto the pitch. Füllkrug failed from close range to Freiburg keeper Noah Atubolu (53'). Later, Atubolu saved a header from Marco Reus (71'), Ian Maatsen hit the right outside post (72'). Dortmund was significantly more variable offensively than in many games this calendar year.

Shortly before the end, Füllkrug made everything clear with a header from close range (87th). The national striker was directly involved in all of the goals.

Meanwhile, Freiburg repeatedly tried to put BVB under pressure early on. But Dortmund managed to get around Freiburg's pressing, which is why the home win for Edin Terzić's team was not in serious danger until the end.
