Japan won a bronze medal in artistic swimming and team technical routines at the World Swimming Championships being held in Qatar in the Middle East, marking their first podium in two competitions.
On the fifth day of the World Swimming Championships in Doha, Qatar, the eight-person artistic swimming team competed in the final of a technical routine that included prescribed elements.
This competition also serves as a selection for the Paris Olympics, and the top five teams, excluding countries and regions that have already qualified, will be selected based on the total score of the three final events: acrobatic routine, technical routine, and free routine. If you enter, you will earn the right to participate.
Japan's performance was based on the theme of "thunder," and they first performed a high lift, and then continued to accurately perform speedy and continuous footwork, marking a score of 275.8787 and winning the bronze medal.
This is the second time that Japan has won a medal in this event at the World Championships. This was also the first medal won by a Japanese team at this tournament. The gold medal went to China and the silver medal went to Spain.
Japan fell behind in seventh place in the acrobatic routine on the 4th, but will make a comeback with their technical routine this time and aim to qualify for the final free routine on the 9th.
