Mishal Barshim saved three penalty kicks to give defending champion Qatar a ticket to the semi-finals of the Asian Football Cup, with a 3-2 victory over Uzbekistan after the end of regular and extra time - today, Saturday - at Al-Bayt Stadium in a 1-1 draw.

Qatar took the lead in the 27th minute after Uzbekistan goalkeeper Otker Yusupov scored an own goal by mistake, following a cross pass from Hassan Al-Haydos, the hosts’ captain.

Uzbekistan showed a different face in the second half, controlling the ball more and threatening Mashal Barshim's goal on more than one occasion, until the 58th minute came when Odiljon Hamrubikov scored the equalizer with a shot from inside the penalty area.

Qatar will play in the semi-final against Iran next Wednesday.
