In response to Major League Baseball player Shohei Otani of the Dodgers donating gloves to elementary schools across the country, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Moriyama announced that he had sent a message of gratitude to Otani.

Otani donated 60,000 gloves to elementary schools in Japan to help children enjoy baseball.

Regarding this, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Moriyama told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that he had sent a message of thanks to Otani.



The message was sent by email to Otani's agent on January 31st, and said, ``We hope to not only give children an opportunity to take an interest in the sport of baseball, but also encourage them to have dreams for the future and take on various challenges.'' We would like to express our gratitude for this opportunity, which will greatly contribute to the healthy growth of children."

Minister Moriyama said at the press conference, ``I wish Otani continued success in his career, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology will continue to create an environment where everyone can enjoy sports, so that everyone can fully enjoy the appeal of sports.'' We will proceed with this.”
