The signing of the decade in Formula 1. According to several Italian media, Lewis Hamilton will sign as a Ferrari driver for 2025. The seven-time champion, at 39 years old, will try to win another World Cup with the historic team with Charles Leclerc as his partner.
If the move is confirmed, Carlos Sainz would be left without a team as soon as the 2024 season ends and his options now are Mercedes itself, where Hamilton comes from, Audi or Aston Martin.
"There have been conversations. You all know that my goal is to start the 2024 season knowing where I am going to race in 2025 and my priority is to renew [with Ferrari] and continue for many more years. I am very happy in the team, I think they are too, so if both parties want it, we will have to agree," commented the Spaniard a few days ago, but in principle that negotiation has not come to a successful conclusion.
According to Marca, in recent weeks Hamilton offered himself to Ferrari - he is a good friend of Fred Vasseur, the team boss - and the Scuderia accepted his hiring. The Briton has an exit clause with his current team and will exercise it to complete the change.
