Mali defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the African Cup (French)

The Mali national team defeated its Burkina Faso counterpart 2-1 - today, Tuesday - to qualify for the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations, which will be held in Ivory Coast until the 11th of next month.

The Malian national team took the lead with an own goal scored by Burkinabe defender Edmond Tapsouba by mistake 3 minutes into the match.

In the second half, Lassina Senayoko added the second goal for the Mali national team in the 47th minute.

Bertrand Traoré reduced the deficit for Burkina Faso with a penalty kick in the 57th minute.

The Mali national team will face Ivory Coast, the home team and the fans, in a match that will be held on February 3.

The Ivory Coast team pulled off a big surprise by eliminating defending champion Senegal - yesterday, Monday - by beating them 4-5 on penalties after the original and extra time ended in a 1-1 draw.
