Jim Gottfridsson, 31, has been playing at the absolute highest level for more than ten years and spent the last eleven years in the world's best handball league in Germany.

The Skåne junior doesn't have much more to achieve as a player, but when his career ends, he still wants to continue with the sport he loves.

- There is a lot you can do in handball, but I think coaching suits me well. And the noblest and finest thing you can do is lead the Swedish national team, says Jim Gottfridsson.

That Gottfridsson has the top coaching job in his sights is nothing that surprises SVT's expert Magnus Grahn.

- The day he quits and has gathered some coaching experience, he is a given national captain candidate, says Grahn.

"There will be a choice of path for him"

And the current national team management are well aware of Gottfridsson's ambitions and feelings for the sport.

- He is very engaged and "committed", not only to the national team but to our sport. I think everyone at home on the TV sofa sees that too. So if he wants to go that way, I'm pretty sure that the association will be there as a choice for him at some point in the future, says the national team's press officer Hanna Fogelström.

"Is a genius"

Magnus Grahn believes that few know as much handball as the Swedish middle school.

- When it comes to match analysis, he is a genius. There are few who can watch handball like he does. If he can transfer that into a coaching role, then it could be really good.
