During this year's World Championships, Sarah Sjöström has chosen to reduce her participation in the various distances and events.

But something she will not miss is the 50-meter butterfly on Friday – where she is the world record holder and has the chance to take the fifth straight World Championship gold.

"It's overwhelming when you look at those statistics, but I rarely look at them. It's something to be proud of. I know I have a high low in the 50 butterfly and free. It's just a matter of trying to stay on my season's best and preferably much better and it will probably go a very long way, says Sjöström to SVT Sport and continues:

"The form of the day has to be there and a lot of technical details have to be right and I can't force anything. I know I swim very well during tough training.

Sarah Sjöström will swim the 50-meter butterfly trials on Friday night and the semifinals Friday around lunch.

During the ongoing World Championships, Sarah Sjöström can break Michael Phelps' record for the number of individual World Championship medals if she wins medals in both the 50-meter butterfly and the 50-meter free, which are the disciplines she competes in.
