Adelina Sotnikova attracted attention with a careless statement that in 2014 she was "found doping". A few days after the release of the sensational interview, the Olympic champion decided to explain herself to fans and journalists by publishing a post on one of the social networks. She lamented that over the past week she has received a huge number of calls in order to get comments about the "suddenly inflated situation in the media."

"I understand that such a newsbreak will always be quoted and gain a large number of views. But the media have already attributed to me that I confessed to using illegal drugs. Guys, well, you can't do that. Let's start with a quote. "Even remembering 2014, when after some time they said that I was found to have doping, and a trial was to take place. But then I was acquitted...", wrote the former figure skater.

According to the athlete, when any professional athlete is notified of an anti-doping rule violation, he automatically panics, and the worst options scroll in his head. The same thing happened to her, although there was no question of serious complaints.

"This block remains for a long time. And when we talk about it, and in passing, we say: "I was told that I was found to have doping." Yes, they did. But it turned out to be a problem with the test tube, scratches ...", added Sotnikova.

She also complained that excessive attention to this topic threatens to have a negative impact on domestic sports, since foreign journalists are always ready to incite such scandals. Finally, Adelina emphasized: neither then nor now did the international doping control system have any questions about it.

"No one will take away the main thing from me! Sochi 2014, minutes on the podium, the anthem of Russia, the eyes of the fans and an incredible feeling that I performed with dignity for my country!" summed up the Olympic champion.

One of her fears has already come true: attention was paid to what was happening in South Korea. The fact is that at the 2014 Olympic Games the Russian woman was ahead of Kim Yong A. A representative of the local National Olympic Committee announced the beginning of the collection of relevant information in order to ask the IOC to look into the case of Sotnikova.

According to the NOC of South Korea, it is extremely rare that the athlete's "A" test gives a positive result, and the "B" sample is negative, as in the case of Adelina, and therefore it is necessary to re-investigate her tests. The committee called these requirements quite reasonable, because, according to WADA rules, samples of doping tests must be stored for ten years.

However, the leading organizations responsible for the fight against doping, no claims to the domestic figure skater are in no hurry. For example, WADA advised to contact the IOC.

"The International Olympic Committee was the result management body, so I am sure that they will be able to help in this matter," the WADA press service explained to TASS.

In turn, the IOC noted that it had no right to comment on anything, since then no case was opened. Finally, the general director of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Kogan stressed that Sotnikova had never passed positive tests.

The excitement was caused by Adelina's interview, which she gave to the YouTube channel Tatarka FM. In it, she recalled how, after the Games in Sochi, she was charged with violating anti-doping rules, but after the opening of the "B" sample, all questions were removed.

"Even remembering 2014, when after a while they said that I was found doping, and a trial was to take place, and all this had to happen. But then I was acquitted, because they opened the second sample, and everything was fine with me, "said the skater.

Curiously, soon the corresponding video was removed from the YouTube channel.

Thus, Sotnikova actually confirmed the information that appeared earlier in the media about the investigation against her. It was reported that she was included in the list of athletes who were tested for the use of prohibited substances as part of a large investigation into the alleged state system of doping in Russia.

European journalists even claimed that the skater could be deprived of the gold medal of the Olympic Games, since scratches were found on her samples. Thus, suspicions arose that they were opened. However, Grigory Rodchenkov stressed that the girl was not involved in any fraud and was not included in his program.

In the world of domestic figure skating, Sotnikova's statements, as well as the desire of the NOC of South Korea to apply to the IOC, caused a mixed reaction. So, honored coach Tatyana Tarasova believes that Adelina should not have remembered that incident, since now "terrible nonsense will begin."

In the same vein, Olympic champion Natalia Bestemyanova spoke, noting that if Sotnikova really used illegal drugs, she would have been deprived of the highest standard award long ago.

"The coach doesn't know anything, the federation doesn't know anything, where did Adeline get it from? Naturally, South Korea reacted to her words. But this is complete nonsense. I think it will be easily resolved, because it was not. I think Sotnikova said, apparently, from lack of attention," suggested Bestemyanova.

Finally, the well-known coach Alexander Zhulin, taking into account the position of the NOC of South Korea, complained that he would not be surprised at the most negative scenario.

"Now it is difficult to foresee anything, especially in such a difficult time for Russia. Moreover, she did not have a positive "A" sample, the lid was scratched. Then they clung to this, then they opened the "B" sample, everything is fine. It was not necessary, of course, to stir up the hive.", - quotes the specialist "R-Sport".
