The German Football League is filling its new management with an internal dual leadership. Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel will be promoted and will take over on 1 July, the DFL announced.

Lenz and Merkel, who have so far been largely unknown to the public, will replace interim managing directors Axel Hellmann and Oliver Leki, who will leave their posts at the end of the month. The personnel decision of the DFL Supervisory Board under the leadership of Hans-Joachim Watzke was announced by the league association on Thursday.
