Alexander Zverev, ranked 27th in the world, is back in the semifinals at Roland Garros a year after seriously injuring an ankle, thanks to his victory Wednesday in the quarters against the unexpected Argentine Tomas Etcheverry (49th) 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The 26-year-old German will face Danish prodigy Holger Rune (2020th) or last year's finalist, Norway's Casper Ruud (6th), for a place in the final, which would be his first in a Major since the 4 US Open.
