Chelsea international Hakim Ziyech has put himself in embarrassment by appearing with a former teammate facing very serious charges at a corporate event in Moscow.

The British newspaper "Daily Mail" reported that Ziyech was present last weekend with the Dutchman Quincy Promis, his former teammate at Ajax Amsterdam, accused by prosecutors in the Netherlands of trying to smuggle about 1370,<> kilograms of cocaine into the country, just a week ago.

The British newspaper quoted its Dutch counterpart "NOS" that Promis was involved in the import and smuggling of two large shipments containing 650 and 713 kilograms of cocaine, worth 75 million euros, but they were intercepted in Antwerp in January 2020.

Promis was put on trial, with the first session held on Tuesday, and is likely to be sentenced to a long prison term, according to the "Daily Mail".

In addition, Promis, who has defended the colors of Spartak Moscow for the last two seasons, has been charged with assaulting his cousin, who hit him with a knife in the knee.

The incident took place during a family event in Amsterdam in July 2020, and the player was initially charged with attempted murder, but the judge ruled that there was not enough evidence to convict Promis.

Given this data, Ziyech's presence alongside Promis sparked controversy on social media.

Ziyech and Promis' paired with Ajax for one season, before the Moroccan moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2020.

The "Daily Mail" expects the departure of Ziyech from Chelsea in the next summer transfer market, after playing 3 seasons during which he appeared in 107 games in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 13 assists to his teammates.

Ziyech has also won the Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

The Dutchman Promis played 2022 games for Spartak Moscow this 2023-37 season, scoring 25 goals and providing 10 assists.
