After the assault of a young child with cancer during the match Ajaccio-Marseille counting for the last day of Ligue 1 this weekend, the president of the Marseille club expressed his indignation and denounced inhuman acts. Incidents had then broken out before the meeting between the supporters of the two teams.

"What kind of mentally ill person does that?" asked Monday the president of Olympique de Marseille Pablo Longoria, two days after the attack on Saturday in Ajaccio a young sick child supporter of OM and his family. "It was one of the hardest and saddest moments of the season," Longoria said Monday at a long press conference where he took stock of the Marseille season.

"It was a shock to me. After that I wasn't myself for an hour. I can't understand assaulting a child, it's not human. It makes you wonder about football, which should normally convey happiness," added the Spanish leader.

"What kind of sick person does that?"

Kenzo, a young OM supporter aged eight and suffering from brain cancer, was invited Saturday to Corsica to realize his "dream" of meeting OM players. He was targeted with his parents in the stadium, AC Ajaccio said in a statement, speaking of "unspeakable acts". "I saw this little one shaking and I wondered what I was doing in this sport and in this society. What kind of mentally ill person does that? He has no place in society," Longoria said, referring to "security breaches" at the Francois Coty stadium.

"He came to see the players at the end, we tried to give him at least a little moment of joy. And we're going to do our best to make sure he and his brother have a good time following his team," Longoria said. The entourage of the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra also said that the minister had a telephone exchange with the little boy during which she raised the possibility for him to attend the events of the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Marseille. Kenzo and his family live near Marseille.
