Egypt's Al Ahly beat Morocco's Wydad 2-1 on Sunday in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final.

Al Ahly advanced with a goal scored by South African Percy Tau in the fourth minute of stoppage time for the first half, and Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba added the second goal in the 59th minute, before Seif Eddine Bouhra scored Wydad's goal in the 86th minute.

Al Ahly needs to win or draw any result to be crowned with its 11th title in the tournament, while Wydad is enough to win with a clean goal to maintain its title achieved last year.

This is the 16th time that Al Ahly has made their appearance in the Champions League final, boosting their record as the most qualified team in the history of the tournament, while this was Wydad's sixth participation in the final.

It was the third time the two teams had met in the final of the continental competition after 2017 and 2022.
