Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not sign a new contract with Milan when the current one expires at the end of next month. The Italian club confirmed this on Saturday, Reuters news agency writes.

Instead, he will be thanked tonight in connection with this season's league game against Hellas Verona.

"AC Milan will bid farewell to Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a short ceremony, involving the entire audience. AC Milan would like to thank Zlatan for the magnificent years we have had together," a club spokesperson said.

Became the oldest goalscorer

Ibrahomvic has had major injury concerns this season, which only resulted in four league games. During these matches, he scored one goal, becoming the league's all-time leading scorer as he scored a penalty in the 1–3 loss to Udinese.

What happens for the 41-year-old going forward is unclear, but Ibrahimovic has hinted that he wants to extend his career, and Serie A club Monza have confirmed that they are interested in signing the Swede.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic played for Milan in 2019-2012 and returned in 2020. During his years at the club, he has won two league titles, in 2011 and 2022.
