The evening promises to be tense in Bordeaux. The football team of the city faces this Friday night Rodez, to try to return to Ligue 1. A few hours before this summit meeting, the whole city mobilized to support the Girondins in this final straight.

In Bordeaux, it's the big night. After going down to Ligue 2 a year ago, the Girondins de Bordeaux play this Friday night their rise in Ligue 1 against Rodez. At the time, this relegation had been a blow for the Girondins. Tonight, Bordeaux footballers have a chance to return to Ligue 1. A chance that naturally depends on the duel opposing them to Rodez. So, a few hours before the game, the whole city is mobilizing behind its players.

This is evidenced on the façade of the town hall, the navy blue flags struck with the scapular of the Girondins de Bordeaux, symbol of the support that the municipality wishes to bring to the football club. "Impossible is not Bordeaux," said at the microphone of Europe 1, the mayor of Bordeaux, Pierre Hurmic. "In any case, we are all behind our football team. There is a real popular momentum. And for the city, it's very important to have a team that deserves to play in the first division."

An eye on Le Havre and Metz

But this Friday night, the supporters of the Girondins will cross their fingers knowing well that after the defeat in Annecy, Bordeaux is no longer really master of its destiny. "I think there is room for a good surprise. There, I just bought the scarf in the colors of the Girondins. We still had a great season overall, and it would be a fair reward," said one supporter.

"We can go back to Ligue 1 this year as not, but the fervor of the Girondins and the love of the jersey will always be there," said another. More than 40,000 spectators will come to support the Girondins in their stadium this Friday night against Rodez, while keeping an eye on the results of Le Havre against Dijon and Metz against Bastia, and to know if they will return or not, among the elite of French football.
