Chengdu, 6 Jun (Zhongxin Net) -- At a press conference held by the Information Office of the Chengdu Municipal People's Government on the morning of 2 June, the emblem, mascot "Rongbao" and torch "Ronghuo" of the 2st Summer Universiade (referred to as the Chengdu Universiade) were unveiled in a concentrated manner. The emblem, mascot, torch and medal of the Chengdu Universiade incorporate Tianfu elements such as giant pandas, sun god birds, and Sanxingdui into the design, making them elegant and eye-catching.

It is understood that the Chengdu Universiade will be held from July 2023 to August 7, 28. This is the third time that the Universiade has been held in Chinese mainland after the 8 Beijing Universiade and the 8 Shenzhen Universiade, and it is also the first time that Western China has hosted a world comprehensive games.

In 2019, the Preparatory Committee of the Chengdu Universiade officially solicited the emblem of the Universiade from all over the world, and received nearly 2000,<> submissions from around the world within two months, and after organizing expert review, voting on the Internet, checking plagiarism and optimizing the design, the emblem of the Chengdu Universiade was determined. The main design of the emblem is based on the initial letter "U" in the English University of the World University Games, and the overall color is cut by curve cutting to divide the "U" into four gradient color blocks: red, bright yellow, emerald green and lake blue, and is in line with the logo elements of the International Federation of Major Sports Federations.

The mascot of the Chengdu Universiade "Rong Bao" is based on the giant panda "Sesame" of the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base. The facial concept of "Rong Bao" refers to the face style of Sichuan Opera, a traditional artistic treasure. The ears, eyes, and tail of "Rongbao" also take the form of flames.

According to reports, this is a design with rich connotations, integrating the cute image of the giant panda with the enthusiastic flame element, highlighting the important label of "fire" in Tianfu culture from all angles: it is the driving force for hot pot food to boil, and rises the "Chengdu taste" that makes the world's mouth hungry; It is the finishing touch of Sichuan opera's fire-spitting stunts, creating a "Chengdu surprise" that makes the world applaud; It is also a symbol of the enthusiasm of Chengdu people, conveying the "Chengdu temperature" that makes the world unforgettable.

The Chengdu Universiade torch "Rong Huo" is taken from the abbreviation "Rong" in Chengdu, and also means "integration" and "tolerance". The torch uses the main visual color blocks of the Universiade with colorful gradients to present the enthusiastic, energetic and fashionable colorful life of Chengdu and the colorful youth of college students. The exterior design of "Rong Huo" was completed by the famous Chinese design artist Xu Liaoyuan and his team. The front of the torch uses the Sichuan giant panda as the main design element, showing Chengdu's optimistic and friendly attitude; The top of the torch incorporates the image logo of Chengdu City and the symbol of Chinese cultural heritage, the Sun God Bird; The side of the torch resembles a bronze statue in Sanxingdui, and the ancient Chinese civilization will be ignited with new vitality in the Universiade, a grand event for young people.

The overall design of the Chengdu Universiade medal is mainly inspired by the emblem of the Chengdu Universiade and the Sun God Bird, using the emblem Sun God Bird elements for extended design, using irregular fan shapes to present the wings of the sacred bird, which not only expresses "protecting dreams" and "Chengdu achieves dreams", but also means that the sacred bird protects the country of heaven. The overall medal is irregular and circular, using geometric fans to represent the sun's rays, conveying the design concept of the sun god bird to protect the dream. The medal is named "Rong Guang" and the homonym is "Glory", which means glory and brilliance, and pins on the good expectations of the Universiade athletes to spread their wings and ride their dreams in Chengdu.
