Penultimate hope of the tricolor clan, Diane Parry was soundly beaten by the young Russian of 16 years Mirra Andreeva in the 2nd round of Roland-Garros. The Frenchwoman lost heavily on the score of 6-1, 6-2 without even having been able to worry her opponent.

France's Diane Parry (79th in the world in the WTA rankings) was stopped 6-1, 6-2 in the second round of Roland-Garros on Thursday by the young Russian nugget Mirra Andreeva (143rd), who is playing her first Grand Slam at 16. After Parry's defeat, there are already only two Frenchmen, Océane Dodin and Arthur Rinderkneck, still in contention in the women's and men's draws. Both will play their second round later in the day.

For a place in the knockout rounds, Andreeva will face outgoing finalist world No. 6 Coco Gauff or Austria's Julia Grahber (61st). So far, the Russian teenager has not lost a set at Porte d'Auteuil, including his three qualifying rounds.

In the first round, Andreeva didn't even need an hour to defeat American Alison Riske-Amritraj (85th) 6-2, 6-1. On the Simonne-Mathieu court Thursday afternoon, she did not last long either (1h17 min). Fourteen months ago, Andreeva was not yet classified. And a year ago, she reached the quarterfinals of the junior tournament on the Parisian clay. His qualification for the third round already guarantees him a place in the top 100 at the end of Roland-Garros.
