In the Regionalliga Nord, there was a scandal in the last game of the season. In the match between Bremer SV and FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen, the visitors left the pitch after an alleged racist insult to a BSV player against Teutonia captain Marcus Coffie.

Because the referees had not noticed any of the alleged statements and the Bremen denied the accusation, the question of guilt was clarified before the sports court of the North German Football Association. The court has now decided to score the game 0-5 against Ottensen.

The accusation of FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen could not be conclusively clarified after the analysis of the referee's special report, the statements of both clubs and the viewing of video material, according to the association's statement. At the time of the abandonment, Ottensen had led 2-1.

Moreover, the game was not stopped by the referees, an attempt was made to achieve a continuation of the game. When this did not succeed, FC Teutonia acted on its own authority, which has now been punished.

The verdict had even more consequences: Bremer SV jumped to 14th place due to the victory at the Green Table, the reserve team of Werder Bremen must therefore be relegated. Bremer SV, on the other hand, plays against the Oberliga runners-up U.S.I. Lupo Martini Wolfsburg in the relegation play-offs.

Ottensen: NFV verdict a "slap in the face"

In Ottensen, the decision of the sports court is met with sharp criticism. The verdict was "the latest element of an active look the other way, the latest element of a decision that tolerates racism in sport and thus in society," the Hamburg company said. The club called the verdict a "slap in the face".

Teutonia player Coffie wrote on Instagram: "It's an indictment when people accuse me of being a liar or claim that I misheard." The 28-year-old "also understands the importance of this game, but there are more important things in life, and that is life itself".

Bremer SV did not want to comment further on the events at the request of the German Press Agency.

Werder Bremen's managing director Frank Baumann seems to me to be able to live with the decision. "A descent at the Green Table is of course very disappointing," said Baumann. "However, we can't be satisfied with our performance during the season. We will approach the situation in the Bremen league with all due respect."
