AIK has had a tough start to the Allsvenskan season and with ten games played, they can only count on one victory. Yesterday's derby against Djurgården, which ended in scenes of scandal and in a loss to AIK, was the last straw.

Now CEO/club director Manuel Lindberg has chosen to leave his post at the club. This just over a year after he was hired.

"I take my responsibility as part of the situation and have therefore chosen to step aside. Having me as CEO/club director does not benefit the club right now," he says.

Chairman Robert Falck says the following about Lindberg's decision:

"With his drive and commitment, Manuel has shown a great desire to create better conditions for AIK Fotboll. Today the club is in a very precarious situation and I have great respect for Manuel's decision to end his employment with us. I wish him well in his future assignments.

Fredrik Söderberg takes over the role of acting CEO/club director.

At the end of November, AIK chose to fire sports director Henrik Jurelius. Then Lindberg stepped in as acting sports director. After the transfer window passed, he took a leave of absence, which was later converted into a sick leave. Lindberg returned to duty last Monday, May 22.
