Goalscorer Erling Haaland has been voted Player of the Season in the English Premier League. As the league announced, the striker of champions Manchester City won the public vote, which was combined with the votes of the 20 club captains and experts.

Haaland, who was recently named Footballer of the Year by sports journalists in England, has had a top season after joining City from Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian has scored 36 goals so far, surpassing the old Premier League record set by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole (34 each). Haaland has also scored twelve times in the current Champions League season and was instrumental in reaching the final against Inter Milan (10 June).

Next Saturday, Haaland can also win the FA Cup with Man City in the final against city rivals Manchester United. In the cup, Haaland scored another three goals.

City players have now won the award four times in a row: Kevin De Bruyne received it in 2019/2020 and 2021/2022, Rúben Dias in 2020/2021.

Haaland prevailed against competition from De Bruyne, Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Newcastle United's Kieran Trippier.
