For two years in a row, Christian Folin, 32, has been sent home from the World Cup before he has been included in the game squad due to the arrival of NHL reinforcements. Last year it was Marcus Pettersson, this year Timothy Liljegren.

Just over a week ago, Folin thought his World Cup adventure was over. However, due to the uncertainty surrounding Rasmus Sandin after the tackle in the final group game against the United States, he has been called back. Now a quarter-final awaits against the host nation Latvia in Riga.

"It was a bit of a boring few days at home so it's nice to be back. It's always fun to pull on the Tre Kronor shirt, so when Sam called, there was no doubt. It was just a matter of getting on the first plane and joining the boys," he says and continues:

"I'm in good shape. Playoff form it feels like.

"I'm proud just to come here"

Folin has played in the Olympics for Tre Kronor, but his World Cup debut has been a long time coming. Now he hopes it will.

"Of course, but on the other hand, few people have the privilege of being here. I'm proud just to come here for a World Cup quarter-final. Not everyone is allowed to do that. I enjoy.

He has a strong belief in the Tre Kronor that is chasing World Championship gold.

"We're doing really well. This team is built for the playoffs. It will suit us perfectly, to win three games to win a gold. The foundation is there, it's just a matter of bringing out the little extra needed to win the tight matches.

SVT broadcasts tonight's quarter-final with a drop at 19.20 on SVT2.
