After the congress in Zurich, Fis writes on his website:

"The current FIS policy, which does not allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in FIA events, will apply until further notice".

Both the IOC and the G7 summit this week have opened the door for Russian participation in international competitions, then under a neutral flag.

The first time FIS raised the issue after the IOC's move

"Both the Norwegian Ski Association and my opinion on this issue are well known. I am pleased that today's discussion in the FIS Council did not change the decision on exclusion," says Erik Röste, President of the Norwegian Ski Association.

It was the first time FIS discussed the issue after the IOC issued recommendations for opening to Russian and Belarusian participants. Swedish FIS President Johan Eliasch, based in London, has during the winter signalled that the IOC's stance must weigh heavily in decision-making.
