An event to experience para-sports such as test drive of competition wheelchairs and boccia was held in Honsu City, Gifu Prefecture.

Ahead of the Japan Para Athletics Championships to be held in Gifu City in June, Gifu Prefecture and the Gifu Sports Association for the Disabled held this event at a shopping center in Honsu City to deepen understanding of parasports, and four corners were set up.

At the wheelchair test drive corner, lightweight track and field wheelchairs that can run at high speeds, wheelchairs with C-shaped tires so that they can make quick turns, and wheelchairs for basketball were prepared, and visitors were able to check the ride comfort.

Also, at the boccia experience corner, participants carefully threw red and blue balls at each other and cheered when they stopped near the target.

A third-grade elementary school girl from Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, said, "Boccia was interesting because I was able to throw the ball well."

Fuminori Matsui, general affairs manager of the Gifu Sports Association for the Disabled, said, "The Japan Para Athletics Championships will be attended by some of the best athletes in Japan, so I hope many people will see it."
