Winning return for tennis player Gaël Monfils. Against Evan Furness, the Frenchman won his first match in seven months. A victory that allows him to reach the second round of the challenger of Ostrava where he will face the Bosnian Damir Dzumhur.

The Frenchman Gaël Monfils, back in competition at the beginning of March after seven months of absence, won his first match since mid-August, Tuesday in the first round of the challenger tournament of Ostrava, taking advantage of the forfeit of his compatriot Evan Furness (213th). At the time of his opponent's retirement, Monfils, now ranked 322nd in the world, was leading 6-3, 2-0.

Monfils reappeared on the circuit in early March at the Indian Wells Masters 1000, after a seven-month absence due to a foot injury in the knockout rounds of the Montreal Masters 1000. He had lost at the start and then suffered the same fate at the Phoenix Challenger before retiring in Miami, this time injured in the wrist.
