More than 200,000 volunteers have already registered for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. An enthusiasm highlighted by the organizers of the event who specify that the registration platform is open until May 3. 45,000 volunteers will finally be retained.

A week before the closing of registrations to be part of the 45,000 volunteers for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024, the organizing committee has already received more than 200,000 applications on the platform, said Tuesday one of its representatives. "We have already exceeded the number of applications in Tokyo where there were 200,000 applications on the volunteer portal for 60,000 places," said Bruno Marie-Rose, chief technology officer of the organizing committee of the Olympics, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the test center of the Paris Olympics of the French group Atos.

Candidates have until May 3 to hope to become one of the 45,000 Games volunteers. To do this, you must be 18 years old on January 1, 2024 and speak French and/or English.

Ten million spectators

On the portal opened five weeks ago, after giving their contact details and place of residence, because accommodation will not be taken into account, candidates must answer two questionnaires, such as personality tests of nearly 200 questions in total, (example: "what I have the least indulgence for: 1. inability to think or 2. the lack of initiatives" or "I prefer 1. think outside the box to find new solutions or 2. working for an organization that helps make the world a better place).

Nearly 60% of the missions are dedicated to reception (public, media, etc.) for Games where nearly ten million spectators are expected. Some candidates will already be selected for test events that will take place this summer, such as handball, rowing, or open water swimming. But the vast majority of candidates will be chosen by the end of 2023. Some anti-Olympics activists have recently announced their intention on social media to infiltrate the volunteer network.
