Things have moved fast for Matilda Vinberg. From Enskede IK in Division 1 to starter in the national team in 2.5 years. Over the past six months, an already rapid career has gained rocket speed: national team debut in November, the title "Breakthrough of the Year in Swedish Football" 2022 and a strong start in this year's Allsvenskan with, among other things, a dream goal against Växjö and recently the first game from the start in blue and yellow, against Norway.

"To have been able to experience so many dreams come true in a very short period of time, it's very big," she says.

Big clubs shown interest

Already after the F19 European Championship last year, several of Europe's biggest clubs showed interest in her, which has hardly diminished this spring. But in the choice to take the chance abroad to first establish themselves more here at home, the great talent is clear.

"I feel that I'm still taking steps in Hammarby. And I don't feel like I have to stress out in Europe to miss my chance. I really want to feel ready. And right now I don't feel ready," says Vinberg.

Ten from Allsvenskan clubs

In the latest national team squad, ten players from Swedish clubs were selected. So for Matilda Vinberg, the World Cup dream is also alive in Hammarby.

"It's nice that there is no pressure either, that I have to go abroad if I'm going to play in the national team," she says.
