Sweden's women took a historic 10th place in the team competition at the recently concluded European Championships, which gave them a World Cup place this autumn.

There were also great successes in the heptathlon when 17-year-old Emelie Westlund and 19-year-old Tonya Paulsson reached the final – which was the first time Sweden had two women in the heptathlon final since 2011.

At that time, Jonna Adlerteg was one of the finalists.

She was impressed by the young Swedes' European Championships.

"Great fun"

"It's great that they really continue to lift Swedish gymnastics," she says.

The team, with only teenagers, has great potential, according to Adlerteg.

"They are young, driven and have all the prerequisites to succeed later on. I think we will see a lot more of Swedish gymnastics and hope that more people get a bloody tooth and that there will be even more who want to come from below and start. That they see that it is possible.

She also believes that her own success in SVT's program Mästarnas mästare can give the sport a boost.

"You can see that gymnastics is a good foundation for a lot of things.

Think they can be better than her

Jonna Adlerteg won two silver medals in bars at the European Championships during her career. She believes that the Swedish talents can reach even greater heights than she did.

– Yes, yes absolutely. They have all the potential. They train really well and are talented the whole gang. They have all the possibilities.
