"I grew up in Italy and we decided that I would compete with an Italian license and under the Italian flag. That's how it will be for me now," Kvyat said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

According to the rider, sport should unite and give the best athletes the opportunity to compete with each other.

"It is obvious that very sad events are taking place in the world right now. I hope that calm times will come soon," he concluded.

Recall that, according to the recent decision of the International Automobile Federation, any Russian and Belarusian racer must sign a special document in which he declares his neutral position.

Earlier, Kvyat made his debut as part of the Prema Racing team at the World Endurance Championship.
