Anicet Mbida gives us every morning what is best in innovation. This Tuesday, he is interested in the printing of organs directly inside the body that could replace transplants.

The innovation of the day is perhaps the end of motorcycle falls at low speed (when you want to park for example). The first large self-stabilizing engines will soon be marketed.

In February, I told you about the upcoming arrival of a self-stabilizing scooter: no need to put your feet on the ground at a red light. He stands on his own as if by magic. This technology, these small invisible wheels, also arrive on road and trails. These are often very heavy motorcycles, difficult to maneuver at low speeds. You have to counterbalance, play the handlebars constantly. It only takes nothing for the bike to end up on the ground. From now on, we will be able to let go of our hands without losing our balance.

A system integrated into the handlebars will take over below 5 km/h and stabilize the machine permanently. Objective: to make motorcycles safer and easier to ride even when you are a beginner.

Does the bike stand still on its own? For example at a red light?

No, it's only an aid when riding at low speeds, not a system that could make the bike fully autonomous. You know, for many, motorcycling is above all the pleasure of driving. Bikers are often purists. They don't like having too much assistance. They want to stay in control. On the other hand, the system can help them regain stability during emergency braking or after an evasive manoeuvre.

It is Yamaha who has just presented this technology. This is not the first. We have already seen stabilized motorcycles, even downright autonomous, at BMW and Honda. But until now, it's mostly been technological concepts. They were not intended to be marketed. While there, it is an equipment that is intended to be adapted on all motorcycles of the manufacturer.

We have scooters, self-stabilizing motorcycles... When will there be bicycles?

Imagine that this is the next step. They have already planned to further miniaturize their system to adapt it to bicycles. And they are not the only ones. Several engineers have already presented bikes that stand on their own. The goal will be to encourage more seniors to take the bike. But we also imagine that many children will be interested... to get rid of small wheels in the back.
