On Monday, Lovisa Modig turned 30 years old. At the same time, she announced that this weekend's Swedish Championship in Kalix will be her last appearance as an elite skier.

The reason is that she no longer has the same drive as before.

"I have to say that I have surprised myself so many times with how much I have managed in both ups and downs at all competitions. It has been a lot of fun with such great friends on the trip, but now I am done with a full investment in traditional skiing," she writes on social media.

The Swede made his World Cup debut in 2017 and has a 25th place as best individually. At the Swedish Championships, she has a silver in the 10-kilometer freestyle as the best result (in Borås 2021).

In addition to skiing, Modig has also competed as a runner with a silver medal in the 10,000 metres and a bronze medal in the 5,000 metres as his main merits.
