Italian coach Antonio Conte, 53, was on a contract that expired this summer. That his coaching career at Tottenham ended is now believed to have to do with his temper tantrums following the 3-3 draw against Southhampton earlier in March.

"We can announce that head coach Antonio Conte has left the club by mutual agreement," the club wrote on its website in the context of going their separate ways with the coach.

Former assistant coach Cristian Stellini will take charge for the rest of the season.

After Sweden's 5–0 win over Azerbaijan, Dejan Kulusevski says this about the reality that now awaits him in London:

- Sorry Conte has gone. I have learned a lot from him and have great respect for him. But now it's up to someone else to decide and we've got ten games left that are really important.

"I'm going to get there in good shape. It's going to be fun. I'm looking forward to it," he said.
