In front of 1,739 people, IFK Norrköping stepped onto the pitch for the first time in a Damallsvensk match. The first opponent of the year was Växjö DFF, who are also newcomers to the series.

The home side got off to a dream start to the game, when Chelsie Dawber scored 1-0 after just twelve minutes. The on-loan Australian hit what looked to be intended as a post, but the ball flew both over the outfield player and the goalkeeper into the far end of the goal for the association's first ever Damallsvenskan goal.

Koivisto great hero

The team had to go to the break in the lead but in the second half Växjö was able to equalize in a messy situation. Evelyn Ijeh received a post, but she as well as IFK Norrköping goalkeeper Sofia Hjern slipped right in front of goal, and then Elin Nilsson was in front and supported the ball in from close range.

However, the big hero was IFK Norrköping's Vilma Koivisto, who unlike the team has all-Swedish experience despite his young age of 20 years. When Växjö failed to clear the ball after several shot attempts, the Finnish was the one who finally got a shot that reached the net. A goal that became decisive in Norrköping's premiere ending in victory.

"It's really nice with three points. Good start to the series, says Koivisto in Viaplay.
