"Bad news from the freestyle federation. Our Yaroslavl athlete, champion and prize-winner of international competitions, participant of the Olympic Games Pavel Krotov passed away. A great loss for our region and the whole world sport. Sincere condolences to the family," Evraev wrote in his Telegram channel.

On March 26, it became known that the athlete died at the age of 30 years. The Freestyle Federation of Russia (FFR) announced that it would provide assistance to the Krotov family.

Krotov is the winner of the 2021 World Championships in team acrobatics, and he also won bronze at the World Championships in singles. He won the World Cup twice. He has been a member of the Russian national team since 2011, participated in two Olympiads (2014, 2018).

Earlier, Alexander Pongilsky, Krotov's personal trainer, told when the cause of death of the world champion will be known.
