Switzerland went into the final as big favourites after three straight World Cup golds and 34 straight World Cup matches without a loss. Norway, in turn, went into the match completely without pressure and played their first World Cup final in 19 years.

The last match of the world championship in Sandviken became another drama. Norwegian Team Rörvik pushed Switzerland very hard the whole match.

"I felt like they outplayed us. Norway played smart and it looked bad for us," Swiss skipper Silvana Tirinzoni said after the game.

More than we could have dreamed of

Ahead of the final round, the advantage looked to lie with Norway. Team Rörvik had the last stone and only one point to pick up for the arbitration round.

But in position to equalise, with the final stone of the match came the devastating mistake. The draw for a point did not even reach the nest. The dream of a first Norwegian gold in 32 years was over. Switzerland won 6-3.

"The silver was more than we could have hoped for, so it was really cool to make it to the final," says Marianne Rörvik after the game.

The Swiss gold meant the fourth straight World Cup gold and 35 straight wins in the World Cup context. An unlikely feat.

"I never thought it would be possible and I don't understand that we have succeeded. This team is unbelievable," Silvana Tirinzoni said after the game.

The Women's Curling World Championships in Sandviken are now over. For Team Hasselborg, the championship ended with a fourth place.

But more curling is on the way in SVT. Already on Saturday, Team Edin's quest for a fourth straight World Cup gold begins during the men's curling World Championships in Canadian Calgary.
