The man was charged in 2022 with assaulting a girl. The district court sentenced him to two years in prison for rape. The man would also pay damages to the girl.

But now the Court of Appeal is making a different assessment of the evidence and is now acquitting the man. Although the Court of Appeal considers the girl's information to be credible and reliable, new witnesses have been added to influence the court.

"In light of the information that has emerged, the Court of Appeal has found, on an overall assessment, that it is not beyond a reasonable doubt that the man was guilty of the charged act," the court said in a press release.

The man has consistently denied any wrongdoing. The club previously broke the contract with the player.
