The Italian car company Ferrari has suffered in the last hours a cyberattack, after which it received a note in which it was asked for a ransom to recover some contact details of its customers that had been stolen, but made it known, after informing the competent authorities, that it will not accept any blackmail.

"In accordance with its corporate policy, Ferrari will not accept any ransom requests, as that would fund criminal activities and allow the perpetrators of threats to perpetuate their attacks," the company, which had already suffered cyberattacks in the past, said in a statement, although none so large.

The house of Maranello is a very attractive target for cybercriminals who try to steal information: in this case related to the contact details of customers, but in general also for its designs, products and patents, which are very valuable in the market.

Ferrari's activities have not been blocked and regular work continues at the car company, which has immediately launched an investigation into the attack in collaboration with a world-leading cybersecurity firm. The Prancing Horse Company immediately informed customers about the possible exposure of their data.

"Ferrari takes the issue of confidentiality very seriously and understands the importance of what happened. We have partnered with experts to further strengthen our systems and we are confident that they are robust," he explained in the note.
