In the talk show program Lindmo, ski star Ingvild Flugstad Östberg speaks out about his health problems. Which in periods, since 2019, has kept her out of the Norwegian national team because she did not meet the requirements.

"I place very high demands on myself. I still do. But it can also be what makes me break down rather than build myself up. That chase made me go in the wrong direction. I trained well enough to become the best skier in the world, but I didn't eat well enough to become the best skier in the world," says Flugstad Östberg in the Lindmo program.

Flugstad Östberg - who won her first medal in four years when she was behind Norway's World Championship relay gold in Planica - talks about national teammate Therese Johaug's straightforward communication, which became crucial in the fight to get back.

"She was one of those who clearly said: Ingvild, now you're too thin. As you are now, you are not the best skier in the world, you need to eat better and more.

"We know each other well. She knows she can say anything to me, even if it hurts and I cry.

'It was hard'

Johaug admits it wasn't a pleasant conversation. But based on his own experiences – where Marit Björgen previously took similar action against Johaug – Johaug hoped that it would have an effect.

"It was hard to hear it when I was in the same situation, but afterwards I was grateful. Me and Ingvild are close friends and I had tried to say it before. But this time I was pretty clear," says Therese Johaug.
