AIK won tonight's away game against Skellefteå 3-1 after turning the game around in the final period. Finland's Saana Valkama then scored a hat-trick – which meant securing a contract.

Frölunda did not play tonight and thus went up in the SDHL "in costume" despite two games remaining thanks to victories in the first two games. The team followed the game together in Frölundaborg and cheered big when the SDHL place was ready.

"Of course, it felt incredibly good. That's been the big goal and it's been a long and special season. I'm incredibly proud of the whole gang. We have a strong group. Of course you will be happy, but then it is a bit special when it happens on some other people's results, says team captain Hanna Olsson to SVT Sport who tells how they celebrated.

"There was a bit of a bump coming in and just tonight we get to enjoy this, there's been a bit of singing and dancing. Then we have two games left that we want to win.

Started the team this season

Frölunda started its women's team this season and sports director and former big goalkeeper Kim Martin-Hasson recruited stars such as national team forward Hanna Olsson, Finnish superstar Michelle Karvinen and goalkeeper Stephanie Neatby, best goalkeeper in the SDHL 2021.

The team has shined and literally crushed their opponents on the way up to the top flight. The long-term goal is for Frölunda to win the Swedish Championship gold on the women's side, but Olsson already believes that it may be possible already in the first season.

"There is a long way to go until then and we will of course enjoy this first, but I know that Frölunda as an association always wants to go for gold," she says.

Coach Erika Holst, the former big player, will also bring in more stars ahead of Frölunda's debut season in the SDHL. After Frölunda's victory over AIK on Monday, Kim Martin-Hasson told GP that she aims to strengthen the team with six players.
