Martin Ponsiluoma was part of the large group that chased leading Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen into the third shooting. There were two misses for the Swede, who fell to 17th place and the hope of an advanced placement disappeared. With five hurdles in total, Ponsiluoma finished 14th in the mass start over 15 km in Östersund after the best time on the track.
Christiansen was the field's only scorer and he won by stoppage at the end.
Ponsiluoma could afford the bar in the first shoot but it cracked on the double bar in the third.
Which was followed up with another double bounce in the fourth, where it was invited after rough bounces in the lead.
With full shooting in the fourth, Ponsiluoma had the chance for second place.
